Attempted robbery on Flanders Drive

One man was shot in an apparent botched robbery attempt on Flanders Drive in North Woodmere on Feb. 23 at 8:13 p.m., according to police.

The shooting victim, a 39-year-old man, was standing on the street, when a dark, four-door vehicle with an unknown number of men pulled up next to him, police said.

One of those men got out of the vehicle, approached the victim and allegedly tried to rob him. Then, the victim was shot several times, police said.

He was taken by Nassau County police helicopter to an area hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, according to police. The men fled west on Flanders Drive without any proceeds.
