The long awaited repairs to the Nassau Expressway, also known as Route 878, will begin and result in creating single lane travel between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday from Burnside Avenue to Rockaway Boulevard.
Road repaving and drainage improvements will be done by the state Department of Transportation as part of repair work that was originally slated to be done last fall.
“These repairs are long overdue, but just the beginning of what needs to be done on NY 878,” said County Legislator Howard Kopel (R-Lawrence), who has been at the forefront of advocating for reconstruction and overhaul of the roadway.
