There were a couple stray flurries in the air as families lined up outside Matty's Toy Store, in Peninsula Shopping Center in Hewlett.

The store teamed up with Nassau Police Department, for the fifth year in a row they gave over 100 disadvantaged kids a $110 certificate to pick out their own presents. Parents scrambled through aisles of toys and games after their kids who were excitedly filling up the bags they were given.

Santa was on hand to help distribute the certificates and his helpers were set up in the back checking families out. Officers laughed with the kids and some helped pull some toys off the higher shelves.

Lots of Lego sets and Nerf guns flew were stuffed into red and green plastic bags. "I'm Pokemon crazy!" Came a an excited cry from a crowd of boys crouched down looking intently at a couple different boxes.

Patrick Collins, the store manager, loves to see the smiles on the kid's faces. "It's great to see that we can help make their holidays brighter," he said.
