In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the National Council of Jewish Women, Peninsula Section-based in Lawrence held a luncheon at the Woodmere Club last Thursday. The NCJW honored 40-year member Joan Riegel, of Hewlett, with the Hannah G. Solomon Award.

Solomon helped found the NCJW as she organized several women after they refused to only handle hostess duties during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. Each section presents the award to the person who best exemplifies Solomon’s spirit.
