Young Israel of North Woodmere members held their “YINWIES” event at Cho-Sen Island restaurant in Lawrence on Jan. 16.

Synagogue members are honored with fun awards as a measure of hakarat hatov — the Hebrew word for gratitude — that recognizes the good that they do for their community.
