Beginning from the Inwood Long Rail Road station and then up Doughty Boulevard, the May 29 Inwood Memorial Day Parade honored the United States military personnel who lost their lives defending the country.

The John J. Olivieri Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1582 led the parade that included the Five Towns Karate Center, Five Towns Kiwanis, the Inwood, Meadowmere and Fishkill fire departments, along with Inwood Civic Association, The Lawrence High School marching band and the band from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, also in Inwood.

At the VFW monument by the intersection of Doughty Boulevard and Mott Avenue there was a memorial ceremony. VFW member Frank Santora was the parade’s grand marshal.
