Ogden is a ‘School of Excellence’

Ogden Elementary School in Valley Stream but is part of the Hewlett-Woodmere School District was names a national PTA School of Excellence and is in the running for the for the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Award and a $2,000 grant.
The PTA School of Excellence is a program that recognizes, supports and celebrates the partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and the well-being for all students.

Being part of the program is a school year-long commitment in identifying and implementing an action plan for school improvement based on the national PTA’s standards. The contest period spans two years and honorees receive celebration tools and are encouraged to renew the designation each year, or every other year, to continue to build on the momentum. The goal is also to attract new, involved PTA members to focus on the issues that affect children the most.
