A man driving a Nissan heading west on Broadway just passing Carman Avenue apparently lost control of his car and struck a tree at 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 26, according to officials who responded to the scene.

“The car came to rest on the front lawn of 421 Broadway and the driver was able to self extricate himself from the vehicle,” said Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Chief Joseph Sperber.

LCFD firefighters extinguished a fire that began in the car’s engine. Nassau County police took the man to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside. He suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.
