Driver struck utility pole on West Broadway

A one-car accident in Cedarhurst on Sunday resulted in non-life threatening injuries to the driver, but damage to a utility pole.

At 4 a.m. on West Broadway just east of Arbuckle Avenue, a woman heading west and driving a Nissan struck the pole, shattered its lower portion. The force of the collision also caused tilted the pole to one side. Nassau County police took her to Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola for treatment.

The Long Island Power Authority replaced the damaged pole. West Broadway was closed for several hours due to the accident. Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department also responded to the scene.
