Peninsula Kiwanis members worked along side with employees of Steve Addona Landscaping over Memorial Day weekend to help with spring clean up at the Hewlett House on East Rockaway Avenue in Hewlett.

Opened in 2000, Hewlett House, run by Geri Barish, herself a multiple-time cancer survivor, serves as a resource center for cancer patients and their families to learn more about their health condition as well as potential treatment options, while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy standards.

Hewlett House is operated by the nonprofit 1 in 9, which was founded in November of 1990 by women who helped establish the Long Island Breast Cancer Project and raise awareness about the disease.

Kiwanis member Dominick Curra, Steve Addona Landscaping workers uprooted the dead foliage and planted new shrubs and flowers that were donated by Cimato and Sons Nursery in Inwood.
