Peninsula Kiwanis members and other volunteers such as the Hewlett High School Key Club served pancakes and other morning food fare at the annual Christmas Dream Pancake Breakfast at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Inwood on Oct. 15.
The three and a half hour event not only had families and friends eating breakfast together, but through the event’s admission fee and raffles, money was raised to support the Kiwanis group’s Christmas Dream, where members purchase then distribute holiday gifts for children in need.
Created 33 years ago, the Christmas Dream collected more than 800 toys last year, along distributing coats, gloves, hats and hygiene supplies. A Christmas Dream breakfast is also held at Our Last of Good Counsel in December.
