Phony cop arrested by Police

A Far Rockaway woman that police say posed as a cop and stopped motorists in Inwood before robbing them was arrested by Fourth Squad detectives on May 21. Police are still seeking two other suspects from the incident.

Police said Seemona Sumasar, 35, of 1367 Dickens St. Far Rockaway, while operating a 1999 Jeep with a red flashing light, pulled over a vehicle on Douglas Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Inwood on March 2. Sumasar and another subject approached the vehicle wearing bulletproof vests, gold police-type shields hanging from their necks and holding black handguns. Sumasar then demanded the driver to step out of the vehicle and began searching the victim’s pockets, removing $100 in currency, a watch, bracelet and ring. The subjects then fled the scene in the Jeep southbound on Roosevelt Avenue.

On May 19 at around 1:25 a.m. Sumasar along with two other suspects pulled over a vehicle on Bayview Avenue and Pearsall Place in Inwood. Sumasar removed an envelope from the victim’s purse containing $1,400, a spare key for her vehicle and assorted clothing from the victim’s trunk. The subjects then left the scene in the Jeep southbound.

On May 21, Sumasar was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm, two counts of first-degree criminal impersonation and unlawful wearing of a body vest. She was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on
