Reaping the vegetables they planted

From May through Aug. 22 the Rock Hall Children’s Garden Club learned how to cultivate, seed, plant and tend a vegetable and herb garden on the grounds of the Town of Hempstead owned museum.

Cherry tomatoes, eggplant, soybean, basil, carrots, kale, and potatoes were grown. And there is a pumpkin vine that could yield the fall favorite in the near future.

The kids, between 5 and 10, harvested their crops last Thursday and celebrated the program’s completion with a pizza party.
