On Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. and Thursday, Feb. 6 from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m., the Hewlett-Woodmere School District will hold registration for prekindergarten programs at the Franklin Early Childhood Center (FECC) at 180 Henrietta Place in Hewlett.
Prekindergarten is a half-day program sponsored by the school district for all children eligible for kindergarten for the following September. The program is available for children who will be four years old on or before Dec. 1, 2014. Parents are responsible for bringing their children to and from the program. A certified teacher will conduct each session in accordance with a teacher aide.
A PLUS Program will be available for children attending the half-day program, allowing them to extend their day. The PLUS Program, offered through the Department of Community Services, is tuition based.
The before school and after-school programs at FECC are organized with the help of the Five Towns Community Chest. These are fundamentally for children of working parents and are offered each school morning from 7 to 9:30 a.m., with breakfast included, and from 3 to 5 p.m. after school. A fee is required for these programs.
Call the FECC office at (516) 792-4600 if you have any questions regarding the prekindergarten program.
