Bettina Browne Radburn, Thomas Jurgens, Neil D. Levin, Kevin O’Rourke, Joseph Rivelli Jr., Howard Selwyn and Ira Zaslow, residents of the Five Towns and surrounding communities, as well as the more than 3,000 people who died on Sept. 11, 2001, were remembered at the Cedarhurst village commemoration ceremony last Sunday on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The Twin Towers in Manhattan and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. were struck by hijacked airplanes on that day. Another plane, headed to the nation’s capital, crashed in Shanksville, Pa., after passengers joined forces in attempt to regain control of the aircraft.

Officials and others in attendance honored all first responders. Cedarhurst Mayor Benjamin Weinstock spoke about teaching children the significance of 9/11.
