Rock and Wrap It Up! recognized at Five Towns Community Center dinner

At the Five Towns Community Center dinner on June 22, marking its 112th anniversary, another longtime organization was also recognized. Cedarhurst-based Rock and Wrap It Up!, founded by Syd Mandelbaum in 1991, seeks to fight poverty and hunger across the U.S. by donating food and other items to those in need. Mandelbaum helped pass the Federal Food Donation Act in 1996 and has fed more than one billion people since RWU’s founding. In the past four years, it has donated more than 160,000 pounds to groups and people in Inwood. A new initiative, Feed the Veterans, aims to aid agencies that help veterans and their families by providing them with information on food pantries and soup kitchens.
