Rambam Mesivta Yeshiva High School in Lawrence held its inaugural 5K run last Sunday and raised more than $10,000 to assist student families in need during these difficult economic times.

More than 200 people attended and approximately 150 participated in the run. School Principal Rabbi Zev Friedman said that it is the school’s responsibility to help provide what he called a “first-rate education for our students” and noted that some families are enduring hardships due to a parent losing a job or other fiscal problems.

“There was a great amount of spirit and camaraderie, it was a great event,” said Rabbi Friedman, who added that the school is planning to make it an annual event.
