Bulldogs 4 Autism, an organization begun by Hewlett High School lacrosse, presented a check for $8,000 to the Ascent Youth Alliance for Autism prior to the boys’ varsity lacrosse game that was the final contest of the annual Hewlett Lacrosse Day.

P.A.L. boys’ and girls’ games were played on the middle school field from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the middle school, junior varsity and varsity played at the high school starting at 3 p.m. on May 4, which was dedicated as Shedding Light on Autism. The day included periodic visits from the Long Island Lizards.

Collecting donations from the community and selling T-shirts, Bulldogs for Autism has raised $33,000 in three years. Founded by Syosset resident Larry Haber and his sons, Youth Alliance for Autism supports programs that advance the education and social skills of children with autism.
