Search for Hewlett-Woodmere superintendent starts

School district hires Old Westbury-based search firm

Posted

The search for a new superintendent has begun as Hewlett-Woodmere School District’s Board of Education approved the hiring of Old Westbury-based District Wise Search Consultants at its Nov. 19 meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Joyce Bisso retirement is effective June 30, 2015.
The trustees and District Wise personnel will host several upcoming meetings to learn from community members what qualities they would most like to see in the next superintendent. Two meetings are scheduled for Dec. 2 in the Woodmere Middle School cafeteria. At 4:30 p.m., school district faculty and staff will meet. The community meeting will be at 7 p.m.
“We chose District Wise because of the fresh perspective they bring to the search for a superintendent,” said Scott McInnes, Hewlett-Woodmere’s board president. “Both Mr. [Bob] Freier and Ms. [Joann] Kaplan, the firm’s partners, are former board of education members and understand the importance of selecting an individual to lead our district who values teamwork, shared leadership, community involvement, and fiscal responsibility. We are confident that they are the right people to partner with us to attract and retain a superintendent who will share the community’s vision and passion for the education of our children.”
Feedback can also be sent to hwps@districtwisesearch.com. until Dec. 19 for inclusion in the report that will be submitted to the board. Any emails received after that date will be presented to them separately. All emails received by District Wise Search Consultants will remain confidential and only their content will be shared with the board of education.
