Along with its school the Jewish Community Center of the Greater Five Towns at 140 Central Avenue in Lawrence conducts a summer camp for pre-schoolers from two to five years old.

This year, the camp boasts 250 children that participate in a broad scope of activities from tie dying T-shirts red, white and blue to celebrate Independence Day to marking Shabbat Fridays, while teaching the children shapes.

Last Friday, one of the camp directors Rachel Hess read the book "Dinosaur on Shabbat" to the children gathered in their groups on the floor of the auditorium, then the children welcomed Shabbat with prayers and some treats.

The camp which runs from June 28 to Aug. 29, also provides the campers with age-appropriate learning, swimming time, pony rides and a carnival that culminates the season.
