Students from Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls in Hewlett Bay Park were among the thousands of high school and college students who attended the annual AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee American Israel Public Affairs Committee) Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. March 24 to 26.

The girls believed they were energized by the sense of community they discovered in joining with 18,000 people at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, where people ranging from United States Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Maryland), a member of the Committee on Foreign Relations to Laura Adkins, the opinion editor for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, addressed conference attendees.

“It’s comforting to see that we’re not alone in our support of Israel, said SKA Student Council President Devorah Schreier. Michal Zelmanovitz, another SKA student, said she love the bipartisan environment in which people with diverse political view could bond over their love of Israel. Schoolmate Talia Win said she appreciated “seeing the diversity of the people here — all united for Israel.”
