The 30th annual Sunny Atlantic Beach Volleyball Tournament, sponsored by the Atlantic Beach club, located at 2035 Ocean Blvd., will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19 beginning at noon. Last year’s 30th annual tournament was wiped out by Hurricane Irene.

This charity event is the longest running volleyball tournament on the East Coast. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit Rock and Wrap It Up!, an anti-poverty organization, and the Let All the Children Play Foundation that helped to build the 2-acre inclusionary park and playground at Eisenhower Park on East Meadow. Both groups are based in Cedarhurst.

Underwritten by Howard and Dana Taub of Sunny Atlantic, trophies and prizes will be given out to the winners and refreshments will be served.

Past tournaments have raised more than $42,000 for several charitable groups. Each player will donate $30. Referees Nat Etrog and Robert Schwartz will be donating their time again this year.
