Three-car crash in Cedarhurst

Only one injured in Central Avenue collision

Disaster was luckily averted when two cars crashed in front of 410 Central Ave., in Cedarhurst at 3:25 p.m. on Thursday during the annual sidewalk sale that attracts a bevy of shoppers.

After the two vehicles collided, a third car was struck after one of the vehicles involved in the initial crash lost control and hit the parked vehicle’s hood, officials on the scene said.

Only one driver of the vehicles involved was injured. She was taken by Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department ambulance to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside after suffering non-life threatening injuries, according to Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department Chief Joseph Sperber.

The streets in both directions on Central Avenue from Washington to Columbia avenues were closed for more than an hour due to the accident. Nassau County police were also on the scene.
