A fight between two men regarding a landscaping job escalated into a robbery as police arrested two Inwood men for the incident that occurred on Monday at 8 p.m.

The victim, a 36-year-old man was at the home of Jose Gomez, 50, at 50 Clinton Ave., where they discussed a landscaping job they were both working on. Gomez then allegedly removed a tool from his belt pouch and slashed at the victim’s stomach and threw him to the ground.

During the attack, Nathan Thomas, 28, of 56 Clinton Ave., Apt. 1, joined in and held the man down while Gomez reached into the victim’s pants pocket and removed $1,100 in cash, police said. The man then got free and called the police. During the fight, he sustained swelling and blurriness to his right eye, and cuts to his stomach and his left forearm. He didn’t request medical attention for his injuries, according to police.

Both Gomez and Thomas were charged with two counts of robbery-second degree. Gomez was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon-fourth degree. They were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
