Two kayakers were rescued near the Atlantic Beach Bridge by the Atlantic Beach Rescue's Marine Unit on May 4.

According to Long Beach Fire Department officials, they learned about a water rescue near a marsh area in the vicinity of the Atlantic Beach Bridge at 4:31 p.m. The two stranded kayakers, a man and a woman, were unable to make it to shore because of high winds.

The Lawrence-Cedarhurst and Inwood fire departments were also dispatched to the scene by the Long Beach department.

Atlantic Beach Rescue's boat was the first unit on scene and they pulled both kayakers to safety without any further trouble. Within 45 minutes of the first emergency call the rescue was complete, officials said.
