Following an argument between two brothers and a young women, the men allegedly attempted to take off with the vehicle all three were driving in on May 30 at 1:45 a.m., according to police.

Tyhei Corely, 34, of Jackson Avenue in Hempstead, and Keith Corley Jr., 32, of South Main Street in Farmingdale, were in a 2006 Dodge with an 18-year-old woman at the intersection of Burnside Avenue and Doughty Boulevard in Inwood, police said.

During a quarrel, the woman told the men to get out of the car. Corley Jr. then grabbed the keys from the ignition. The woman tried to retrieve the keys and during the struggle the ignition key fell to the vehicle’s floor. Tyhei Corley picked it up and got out of the car, according to police.

Corley Jr. allegedly hit the woman in the face and ripped the other keys from her hand. She then got out of the vehicle and Corley Jr. sat in the driver’s seat and tried to start the car, but he didn’t have the ignition key.

Police arrived on the scene and after their investigation arrested the Corleys. No injuries were reported. Both men were charged with robbery-second degree and will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on May 30.
