The Long Island Railroad's annual maintenance program could affect commuters that use the Far Rockaway branch

As part of it’s annual maintenance program, the Long Island Rail Road will temporarily suspend train service on the Far Rockaway branch from Valley Stream to Far Rockaway in both directions beginning on Friday April 27 at 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Monday May 1.
Due to the suspended service that affects the Cedarhurst station, alternative travel options are available.
Commuters who travel east on the Far Rockaway branch can take the train to Valley Stream and transfer to a bus that goes east.
Commuters traveling west can take a bus at any station along the branch and take a train from Valley Stream going west.
