A driver lost control of his Nissan Murano and crashed through a guardrail and landed in Jamaica Bay by Rockaway Turnpike in Woodmere on Sunday.

The driver of a Nissan Murano crossover apparently lost control of the vehicle near the Applebee’s restaurant at 253-01 Rockaway Turnpike in Woodmere and crashed through the guardrail and landed in Jamaica Bay on Sunday at 12:30 a.m., according to officials on the scene.
Meadowmere Fire Department firefighters and Nassau County police rescued the man from the bay, which was at low tide. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The vehicle was removed from the water.
