The LIRR crossing at Washington Avenue in Cedarhurst will be closed on Saturday die to repair work. Above, commuters disembark a train at the Cedarhurst station.

The Washington Avenue Long Island Rail Road crossing in Cedarhurst will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday due to repair work.
Contruction includes opening a long trench acorss Washington Avenue parallel to the train tracks. The automatic signals and gates will not be working.
A temporary walkway will be set up but it could be difficult for some people to use, especially those with walkers, strollers and carriages. Flagmen and others will be stationed to help.
Village of Cedarhurst officials recommend using the crossings at Cedarhurst Avenue or Rockaway Turnpike.
