An 18-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted on Doughty Boulevard in Inwood at 11 a.m. on May 16, by a man she knows, according to police.

The young woman was at a residence on Doughty Boulevard and was approached by Jonathan Rivera, 19, of Beech 32nd Street, Far Rockaway, police said.

Rivera allegedly snatched the woman's purse out of her hands and began to choke, punch and kick her on the head and body. He then used her phone and struck her in the face with it, police said. He then fled the scene on foot and headed west to Redfern Avenue.

The woman was taken to a local hospital and treated for bruises and swelling to her face, head and hip.

Fourth Squad detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rivera to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-(8000-244-8477. All calls are confidential.
