At 8:47 a.m. Tuesday, eight fire departments, including Woodmere responded to an apartment building fire at 1068 Broadway in Woodmere, according to Nassau County police.
Six apartments were damaged by the fire, which started in a third floor residence. Nassau County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze. No injuries reported.
Sixteen adults and seven children were displaced,according to Red Cross officials, who are providing housing to two families and the other four are seeking housing elsewhere.
The Hewlett, Woodmere, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood and Meadowmere Park, Lynbrook, Valley Stream and East Rockaway fire departments responded to the scene.
