One firefighter suffered a minor injury while helping to extinguish a house fire at 764 Addison Street in Woodmere on Tuesday afternoon. The fire was reported to the Woodmere Fire Department at 2:49 p.m.

Chief of Department Richard Jankosky, Jr. said the cause was yet to be determnined. "We don't know how it started yet," he said. "That's why we call in the Nassau County Fire Marshal." The fire marshal is currently investigating to determine a cause.

Other than the firefighter, no other injuries were reported. The family was not home at the time of the blaze. The firefighter was treated at the scene.

"The most damage from the fire is on the second floor, near the bedroom area," Jankosky said.

Hewlett, Inwood and Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Departments all also responded. Valley Stream Fire Department covered in the case of another emergency. An ambulance crew from the East Rockaway Fire Department was also at the scene.

All the fire departments worked under the direction of Woodmere Capt. Adiv Koenig.
