A small neo-Nazi group in Iowa has declared Feb. 25 as a “day of hate” and Nassau police will have extra units patrolled across the Five Towns.

In response, Young Israel of Woodmere published a statement: “While our shul and community is not currently the target of any specific threat, we must continue to be vigilant in being aware of the threats that such groups pose. These group activities generally involve the distribution of fliers, small protests and graffiti. Please be aware that our security team and local law enforcement are continually monitoring such activity.”

Nassau police will have extra units patrolling across the Five Towns.

“Patrols will be beefed up this weekend,” Commanding Officer in the Fourth Precinct Danny Gluck said. “We’re going to have our police cars parked at our local synagogues.”

On Feb. 9, the Anti-Defamation League tweeted that several of extremist groups have endorsed and shared online of the Feb. 25 date.

Young Israel of Woodmere officials said they are looking for security team volunteers.
