A Hempstead man was arrested for a burglary that occurred on Sunday, April 24, at 4:48 p.m. in Franklin Square. According to the Nassau County Police Department’s Fifth Precinct detectives, the defendant, Rimel Myers, 22, of Graham Avenue in Hempstead, entered an unlocked side door of the Alpine Garden Restaurant, located at 11 Franklin Ave. in Franklin Square. While inside, the silent alarm to the closed business was set off by the defendant without his knowledge. more

Is Kate Murray really a fiscal conservative? To the Editor: If you go to Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray’s Web page, it states, “residents can at least count on one level of government to be fiscally responsible and accountable.” The recent investigations into the operation of the Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh has shown that Murray is not very eager to be accountable to the public, or fiscally responsible. more
