The assembly began with the kindergarten boys and girls, who were dressed in collared shirts and ties and beautiful summer dresses, marching into the school’s gymnasium to the Disney song “It’s A Small World.” Once on the stage, which was decorated with a painted backdrop that included the Earth as well as images of the different people who live on it, students began to sing a variety of multicultural songs under the guidance of their classroom teachers and music teacher Anthony Pino, who accompanied them on piano. Accentuating their musical performances were a variety of instruments and props, such as straw hats, American Flags, sombreros and maracas.

Additional highlights of the ceremony included the recognition of several school retirees and the outstanding vocal performance of teacher aide Sharmin Williams. Williams sang Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All” to the kindergarten students.
