North Bellmore man arrested for assaulting an officer in Franklin Square

Nassau police arrested a North Bellmore man for assault on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. outside of a restaurant in Franklin Square.

The assault occurred outside of Ginger Flower on Franklin Avenue when officers responded to a customer disturbance call. Saidmurodov Niyazov, 57, of Davenport Place, North Bellmore punched an officer in the face during the investigation. A struggle ensued as Niyazov violently and combatively resisted arrest before he was subdued.

The punch caused swelling and redness, and the officer was treated at an area hospital. Niyazov was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment and evaluation.

Niyazov has been charged with assault, resisting arrest and theft of services. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
