Soweto Gospel Choir
South Africa’s famed Soweto Gospel Choir visits the area for a rousing performance of traditional African and contemporary music. Known for earthy rhythms, energetic dancing, vocal harmonies, and vibrant costumes, the 52-member ensemble blends elements of African gospel, Negro spirituals and reggae, with American popular music. The award-winning group, which counts two Grammies among its honors, is dedicated to sharing the joy of faith through music.

South Shore Symphony Orchestra
Hear the South Shore Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Scott Jackson Wiley, when it continues its season this weekend at Molloy’s new Madison Theatre. Acclaimed pianist Jeffrey Biegel, of Lynbrook, joins the orchestra as featured soloist. The program includes Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring, Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto no. 2 in G minor Op. 22, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4. Biegel’s 15-year-old son, Evan, performs with his father during the Saint-Saens concerto.

Harlem Globetrotters
Those outrageous Globetrotters are ready to thrill spectators once again when they take on the New York Nationals. This year’s show features the new class of rookies that has fans talking – led by 7-foot-8-inch Paul “Tiny” Sturgess, the world’s tallest basketball player, and Jonte “Too Tall” Hall, the shortest Globetrotter ever at 5-2. They’ll join everyone’s favorite players – Big Easy, Flight Time, Special K, and Scooter – and show off new tricks along with those classic ball-handling moves.
