The First Squad reports the details of an arrest for grand larceny that occurred from Dec. 16, 2013, until Feb. 22, 2015, in Freeport.

According to detectives, defendant David Bevilacqua, 36, of Marion Drive, East Meadow, was employed as a shipping clerk at Green Art Plumbing in Freeport. The owners of the company began to notice plumbing items missing from the warehouse. After an internal investigation, the owners found that the defendant was responsible and terminated his employment in February 2015. After the termination, owners began to notice additional plumbing supplies missing and contacted police for further investigation.

Detectives determine that defendant Bevilacqua would post several plumbing items on eBay and would ship the stolen merchandise to various unknowing buyers across the country. The defendant would then receive payment for the items through a PayPal account. The company’s loss is in excess of $50,000. The defendant was placed under arrest on Friday, July 3, at his home.

He is being charged with second-degree grand larceny. He was to have been arraigned on Saturday, July 4, at First District Court in Hempstead.
