Two Roosevelt men have been indicted on new grand jury charges for the recent armed robbery of a teenage victim in Freeport said Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas. Sayquane Marshall, 24, and Andy Lafontant, 23, are facing grand jury charges for first and second-degree robbery, first and second-degree criminal use of a firearm in the, second, third and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and fourth and fifth-degre criminal possession of stolen property.

Marshall and Lafontant both face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted of the top counts.

Singas said that on May 2 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Marshall and Lafontant robbed a 16-year-old boy near the corner of Rogers Place and Independence Avenue in Freeport.

Lafontant allegedly displayed a handgun while Marshall stole the victim’s iPhone and wallet containing an undetermined amount of cash.

The defendants were arrested in a traffic stop later that day after the victim’s phone tracking software helped Freeport Police track down their whereabouts after the robbery.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
