Assemblyman Brian Curran — who represents parts of Freeport — in partnership with the Long Island Dominican Chamber of Commerce, recently organized a special Dominican Independence Event to recognize and celebrate the achievements of outstanding local Dominican leaders in the community of Freeport.

Among those honored were Jocrys Barranco, professional and founder of Exodus Financial Services, dedicated to providing financial education to underserved communities.

Lillian Rodriguez, representing Allstate Insurance Company, was acknowledged for her exceptional performance and commitment to community service, volunteering with organizations such as the American Heart Association and Autism Speaks.

Olivia Rosario, a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law, who transitioned from assistant district attorney to owning her own real estate law firm, was also recognized for her accomplishments. Additionally, she holds prominent roles in both the Dominican Chamber of Commerce and the Peruvian Chamber of Commerce.

Jose Madera, a dedicated employee of Mount Sinai South Nassau for over 30 years and a local deli owner, was praised for his contributions to the community. Julissa Moronta, a former Freeport School District employee turned community affairs coordinator, was acknowledged for her unwavering dedication.

Jocabed Rodriguez, a church leader, businesswoman, and educator, currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music and Digital Marketing, was also honored for her achievements.

Lisandro Marine, an entrepreneur and community volunteer, known for his active involvement with Latino Republicans, was recognized for his contributions. Rodolfo Ramos, an active citizen engaged in local politics and community causes, who became a U.S. citizen in 2005, was also honored for his service.

Assemblyman Curran expressed his pride in honoring these remarkable individuals and the Dominican community as a whole within the 21st Assembly District, saying ““I was so proud to honor these amazing individuals and the Dominican community as a whole throughout the 21st Assembly District, they truly do make this the best community in the state.”

“I want to thank the Long Island Dominican Chamber of Commerce, which as always was an amazing partner and does a tremendous job throughout Long Island,” Curran added. “I look forward to hosting this event again next year.”
