Pedestrian death in Freeport accident

Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an auto accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 6:20 p.m. in Freeport.

According to detectives, while crossing Henry Street in an eastbound direction, a man, 32, was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet SUV heading southbound on Henry Street. The SUV was driven by a man, 67, who remained at the scene. While the victim was lying in the street, he was struck again by a sedan that was also heading southbound. The driver of the sedan initially stopped, but then left the scene. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and was pronounced dead by the hospital staff at 6:52 p.m. The investigation is ongoing.
