Reintroducing Churchill’s

Posted

Established in 2000, Churchill’s Pub & Grill has long been a popular icon in Rockville Centre. It changed hands during the summer of 2020. Chef/Owner Maurizio Vendittelli set out to restore Churchill’s to its finest version, while retaining its staff members and warm, friendly atmosphere. That fall, Vendittelli also acquired Winston’s (next door), renaming it Mangia Bene, turning it into an Italian restaurant serving robust pizzas and fresh pastas, to more upscale entrees.

Physical restoration came first at Churchill’s — modernizing restrooms, painting, replacing outdated equipment. Vendittelli now focuses on updating and expanding menus and offerings. “We use only the freshest, finest quality ingredients. We run a scratch kitchen,” he says. Extremely passionate about cooking, he enjoys the ability to engage and supervise both restaurants’ kitchens.

Fare-wise, Churchill’s brunch menu give options for any penchant, be it egg-based breakfast favorites, a salad, burger or something hand-held. You’ll find a Benedict Bar, French Toast Fondue, and even Short-Rib Hash and Eggs with Hollandaise sauce. Spanning far beyond common pub-style choices, the regular menu brings starters like Thai Shrimp Skillet and Reuben Empanadas. Endless salad and burger choices join all types of entrees and the ultimate comfort of a homemade Chicken Pot Pie.

Churchill’s has become much more than a place to dine. There’s a different special each day of the week, and they never miss a holiday or special event to celebrate. On the calendar is a Super Bowl party, Date Night for Valentine’s Day, Pipes & Drums for St. Patty’s Day, Easter Brunch, and a Kentucky Derby Watch Party. They serve German food throughout October, and of course, honor Mother’s and Father’s Day with a brunch. Being an OTB betting site, they showcase all the races. Check the website for Restaurant Week, calendars, and menus.

As for days of the week, kids eat free on Mondays. Tuesday is Burger Night. Wednesday is Prime Rib Night, and Taco Thursdays gives you a complimentary beer or Margarita (if you order tacos). On weekdays, Happy Hour happens 3 to 6pm, and Early Bird menus are offered 4 to 6pm. Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday nights feature live music (a singer or band) set up in the corner of the main dining area.

Open from Memorial Day through November is a covered patio (behind both restaurants) with electric heaters and fans. Thursdays will be “Yappy Hour”— dogs are welcome outside. Catering is available as both take-out trays and in-house.

Churchill’s can accommodate parties up to 50 inside, and outside, up to 450 (both patios can be merged).
