Broadcasting live in the new year

Halftime Howie has big plans for 2013

Posted

As we head into the new year our weekly Long Beach radio show, “Broadcasting on the Beach with Halftime Howie” — which airs on Sundays from 7 to 8 p.m. on WGBB 1240AM — has already planned several very exciting shows and fundraisers.

Our first big event will take place on Sunday, Jan. 13 at the Rockville Centre Lanes where you can Bowl from 6 to 11 p.m. for just $20 — and enjoy great entertainment led by Benoir and the Long Beach All Stars.

On Sunday, Jan. 20, we will be broadcasting from the MLK Community Center in Long Beach, where the center’s organizers will talk about its annual big parade the following day in Long Beach.

On Super Bowl Sunday we have a whole day event planned from Hub Billiards in Island Park with a fabulous Super Bowl party on Feb. 3 that will include great food, great entertainment, Super Bowl contests and a special 11 p.m. broadcast culminating in a very fun day at the HUB!

On Sunday, Feb. 10, we will be broadcasting from the Knights of Columbus in Lindenhurst, a fundraiser for the Knights of Columbus in Long Beach. And because our Dec. 19 “Long Live Long Beach” Hurricane Sandy benefit relief concert at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh — including Benoir and many other fabulous Long Beach bands — was such a smashing success, we will be returning to Mulcahy’s for another benefit concert on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Our last big event that we have planned is a special live St. Patrick’s Day broadcast from the Long Beach VFW on March 17, featuring the dancers from the Hagen School of Irish Dance, as well as traditional Irish and a good luck send off to our very own Robin Lynch, who will be running in the Boston Marathon in April.
