The Long Beach/ Lido Little League kicked off its 45th season with its annual parade and carnival on April 18. The 50 teams and their families lined up at Lindell Elementary in the morning and marched down Park Avenue to Kennedy Plaza where the festivities began after an opening ceremony.

The league is open to children of all ages and skill levels, with teams ranging from tee ball for kindergarteners to baseball for the boys and softball for the girls.

City Council member Anthony Eramo, whose son plays in the league, made opening remarks along with Michael D’Ambrosio, a representative from County Executive Ed Mangano’s office, before the carnival featuring bumper cars, games and bouncy houses started up.

The league also sold raffle tickets and donated the proceeds to the Special Olympics, raising over $1,000.
