The Long Beach Chamber of Commerce’s annual Street Fair and Carnival on the Superblock and boardwalk at Long Beach Road is set for Friday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 13, and will feature vendors, food, carnival rides, a petting zoo and pony rides.

Street fair hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Carnival hours are 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, noon till 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon till 8 p.m. on Sunday.

“We time it to extend the summer another week so that there’s activities going on after Labor Day,” Chamber president Mark Tannenbaum said, adding that the September event is typically the best attended of the Chamber’s three annual street fairs.

All Long Beach merchants with brick-and-mortar businesses are entitled to a booth at the fair as long as they are Chamber members, Tannenbaum said. Outside businesses and vendors can also participate for a fee. The street fairs usually see over 150 businesses coming together on the Superblock and boardwalk.

“We also allow all the Long Beach and Island Park food trucks to be a part of the fair, free of charge,” Tannenbaum said. Though the Shoregasboard may be gone, there will be no shortage of food to sample at the fair.

Tannenbaum added that the Long Beach Chamber street fairs are unique from most others in the inclusion of a carnival geared toward kids, truly making the event a family affair. The petting zoo and pony rides are usually a big draw for families, he said.

This is the third year the chamber will be presenting a street fair on the Superblock.
