Long Beach art students shine in the spotlight

The talents and creativity of students throughout the Long Beach School District were showcased in an annual art show presented by the Comprehensive Arts department.

On May 15 and 16, the Long Beach High School lobby and upper commons area featured an art gallery that displayed hundreds of pieces created by students in grades K-12.

Attendees browsed rows of ceramics, three-dimensional pieces, drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, crafts, fashion designs and other formats. Many students earned awards in prominent competitions this year, and a number of the winning pieces were presented for viewing at the show.

Members of the National Art Honor Society welcomed guests and took orders for custom-made greeting cards designed from the exhibited works, and International Baccalaureate Art students and other high school art students assisted with the event’s setup. High school junior Jonathan Kapilian provided musical entertainment with guitar performances.
