Quicksilver Resident Parking

The City of Long Beach will play host to the Quiksilver Pro New York Surf Competition September 1st through September 15th. During this event, as an advantage and accommodation to our residents, parking will be restricted to residents only on many of the streets in the event area. As a result, we will be issuing free temporary resident parking tags. Below you will find answers to many questions regarding parking in the event area:

What is the reason for resident parking tags?

There are two reasons for the resident parking tag program: First, we anticipate a number of parking spaces along Broadway to be eliminated during the busiest days of the event (September 3rd, 4th, 5th & 10th) for public safety and emergency vehicle access. We ask that all residents try to park their vehicles in their driveways to make parking less difficult for their neighbors. Second, we are attempting to reduce the traffic impact on our residents residing close to the event by restricting non-resident parking in that area from September 3rd through September 11th.

Is the annual resident parking sticker valid in these resident only parking areas?

Yes, the annual resident parking stickers which allow you to park your vehicle in one of the City's neighborhood parking lots will also allow you to park in these temporary resident-only parking areas September 3rd-11th. While all residents are encouraged to leave their car at home and find alternate means of getting to this event (bike, walk or bus), vehicles with resident parking stickers may park in the temporary resident only parking areas without the addition of a resident parking tag.

How will residents receive the resident parking tags?

An applications can be downloaded here.. Applications are accepted by mail or in person at the Office of the City Clerk (Mon – Fri, 9am – 4pm). Applications made by mail should be received by no later than August 29th to ensure delivery by September 1st!
