Board meeting

The Long Beach Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at the Long Beach Library at 8 p.m. on March 9. There will be a budget presentation.

Wall of Fame nominations open

The Long Beach High School Wall of Fame was conceived to honor present and former members of the Long Beach community who have made substantial contributions either locally, or to the world at large, including contributors in the area of athletics. Nominations for induction for the 2010-11 school year will be accepted through April 1. To nominate a candidate, pick up a nomination form, available at any of the Long Beach Public Schools, the Administration Office, the Athletic Office in Long Beach High School, or the District’s website (www.lbeach.org). Completed forms and all other supporting information should be sent to the Office of the Superintendent at 235 Lido Blvd., Lido Beach, NY 11561-5093.

Winter recess

Long Beach Public Schools will be closed for winter recess on Feb. 15 to 19. Classes resume on

Feb. 22.

Out-of-district transportation requests

For parents of students attending out-of-district programs in the 2010-2011 school year, applications must be submitted to the Long Beach Public Schools Transportation Department, at 659 Lido Boulevard, prior to May 1. For information call 897-2132.

Free echocardiogram screening

The Long Beach School District in conjunction with Schneider Children’s Hospital, the Jason F. Gruen Research Foundation and real estate brokers Neil Sterrer & Joe Sinnona announce the

second annual free echo cardiogram screening program for 8th grade student athletes at 8 a.m. on March 20 at the Long Beach Middle School.

Adult EdIn-person registration for the Long Beach Adult Continuing Education program will take place on Feb. 22 and Feb. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at LBMS. Classes begin March 8. For more information call 897-2679 or e-mail jsofield@lbeach.org.
