Three days after the Conference II football game between Long Beach and Valley Stream Central was halted at halftime because of the severe thunderstorms that made their way through Nassau County, the Marines emerged with a 27-21 win on Sunday at Firemen's Field.

Damon Whitfield's 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter won it. Long Beach's defense pitched a shutout in the second half. Both teams are 1-1.
