Man drove drunk with girlfriend's child in car

An Oceanside man was arrested in Lido Beach on Monday at approximately 4:30 p.m. for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a child in the car — a felony under Leandra’s Law, which increases the penalties for driving drunk or high on drugs with a passenger 15 years of age or younger in the vehicle.

According to police, Shawn Buschor, 40, was observed on Lido Boulevard at the Loop Parkway operating a 2010 Toyota Sedan while intoxicated. The defendant’s girlfriend’s 6-year-old daughter was reportedly riding in the backseat of the vehicle. The child was released to family members and no injuries were reported.

Buschor was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of DWI, two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and unlicensed operator.  He was arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
